School Board Recognition Month
The Governor of Texas has designated the month of January as School Board Recognition Month to give administrators, school staff, students and the community an opportunity to show their gratitude to local school board members for their service. State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR)
Beginning in spring 2012, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR™) will replace the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Lubbock ISD has provided valuable resources to learn more about testing changes for parents and students. Click here for more information.
What's going on at Honey Elementary
Evans Electrified
Evans Electrified will be on Monday, January 30 @ 9:30.  This program is for our 5th grade students only.  Representatives from Evans Middle School will be here to speak to our 5th graders about going to middle school in the fall. Parents are welcome to attend (meeting will be in the gym). Additionally, Evans will host a 5th grade Parent Night on January 31st @ 6:30 on their campus.  Parents are highly encouraged to attend.  If you have any questions please contact Kim Petrie (766-0858) or Kristen Lewis (766-0722).
100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is Tuesday, January 31.  Many of our primary classes have special activities planned on this day.
Early Dismissal
School will be dismissed at 12:00 on February 1 for teacher professional development.
End of 4th 6 weeks
The 4th six weeks will end on Friday, February 10th.
Valentine Parties
All class Valentine parties will be on Tuesday, February 14, from 2:30 - 3:10.
PTA Program
Our next PTA program will be Thursday, February 16 in our gym.  Coach Hancock's jump rope team will be performing.  The meeting will begin at 6:00.
Help our Environment
You can help the environment and raise money for Honey Elementary at the same time!  Simply turn in used ink jet printer cartridges and/or old cell phones to Mrs. Sanford.  She will send them off and we get a small amount of money for recycling.  See Mrs. Sanford if you have any questions.
